  • Farewell to the “Golden Apricot”
    On July 18 ended 7 th “Golden Apricot” film festival in Yerevan. The festival held July 11-18. And during the festival were shown about 120 films.

    Ashot Aghababyan
    President
    Ashot Aghababyan was born on November 8, 1952 in Yerevan.
    Mr. Aghababyan received his degree in economics from the Yerevan Institute of National Economy in 1978.
    From 1970-1972 he served in the Soviet Army. In 1974 started work in the Yerevan Silk Mill. He spent three years there as a metal worker.1977-1978 he worked first as an economist and later as an engineer in the Yerevan Knit Wear Industrial Complex. In 1979 he was a senior economist in the transportation trust Hayoughevortrans. From 1979-1980 he was the manager of shop under the food-trading unit No 3 of the Yerevan City Council. From 1980-1983 he was an assistant manager in shop under the Yerevan food-trading unit No 6 and for the next decade he managed shop under the Yerevan food-trading unit No 4.
    He was the activist of the National Liberation Movement and took part in the Karabagh war, where he was wounded many times .He was a member of the mili¬tary council and headed the army headquarters. Mr.Aghababyan was awarded medals for military services.
    In 1990 he was elected a deputy in the Mashtots regional council. From 1993-1999 he was the general director of the Hrazdan Sport Complex and in 1999 was appointed its president. In 2002 was elected president of the Yerevan Football Federation. From 2003-2007 he was a deputy in the National Assembly by majoritarian system (electoral district No 48). He was a member of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Youth Affairs. He is a member and one of the founders of the Republican Party of Armenia.
    On May 12, 2007 he was reelected to the NA from electoral district No33 also by majoritarian system. He is a member of Republican Party of RA. He is a member of National Assembly Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Regular Economy Committee For the services, provided for Olympic movement in 2003 Mr. Aghababyan was awarded by the President of Armenia with Medal of Honor of the Armenian National Olympic Committee.

    Mr. Aghababyan is married and has three children and three grandchildren.
